“Many years ago we had a serendipity moment when travelling along this coastline when we came across this very impressive farm. Then, in the years that followed, we would always travel this way and stop and gaze at this superb place. Then we had the pleasure of staying here in Clippity Clop. On arrival there were flowers in the lounge and bedroom, scones cream and jam. Everywhere in this lovely home was scrupulously clean. We have been so happy here. Cornwall has so much to offer. Spectacular rugged coastline, rolling hills scattered with small villages and hamlets, little twisting roads, stone cottages, clustered old farmsteads, ancient inns, old dried walls, old tin mines, lashings of history. There is so much to see here, a wealth of opportunities for exploration and adventure. Take a ride on the double deck bus, especially the open top one, to Land’s End, visit Porthcurno and the Minack Theatre, Mousehole, Cape Cornwall with its awesome rugged coastline, but mostly staying in this wonderful cottage, sitting in the garden, this is the ideal place to stay to escape the pressures of life and to enjoy a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you Lee and William, we will certainly be coming again.”
Vic and Sheila Goring, August 2019 (Clippity Clop)
“We had a lovely stay, Eliza’s Croft was extremely comfortable and welcoming. The cottage had everything we needed and the cream tea which was waiting for us on arrival was especially appreciated after a long journey. We loved the peace and quiet which awaited us back at the cottage after a busy day exploring.”

Things have been so well thought through that it’s hard to find fault. We would recommend it to anyone; from the cream tea which awaited our arrival to the last morning we felt welcome and at peace with world.”

“Porthmeor Cottages came highly recommended. The location is ideal for anyone who enjoys all forms of Natural History. Also the on site Pre–historic settlement is a delight to investigate and compare with Chysauster and Carn Euny. Industrial Archeology is everywhere in stunning natural surroundings. Good small shops within driving distance and very good eating out venues to suit all tastes.”

On arrival at the property we were bowled over by the transformation from former stable for the farm stallion to self catering cottage. The spec is wonderful and tastefully renovated, it is comfy and warm with brilliant features and a comfy bed all set in a beautiful location. Will deffo return, we love it here!”

“Eliza’s Croft was the perfect location for our 4 night break. Far enough away from the bustle of St Ives, but within easy access to the coast and excellent walking paths. Our friendly hosts made us very welcome and we particularly enjoyed the stunning view from the cottage of the moorland across the valley. We loved it.”
R & Carol Horner, February 2019 (Eliza’s Croft)
“Our 5 day stay in this well appointed and comfortable cottage was a delight. Attention to detail made our stay over the New Year personal. The scones lovely and the eggs deliciously golden. Just being able to walk for miles amid the rugged stark beauty of this coast is the most delightful route to personal peace. Steeped in history and wondrous wildlife. What’s not to love.”

“We found Eliza’s Croft most comfortable and welcoming. The weather in November has been very wet and windy and it has been lovely to return “home” to a warm and cosy cottage. Eliza’s is extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. We were greeted and warmly welcomed by Lee and William on our arrival. We appreciated the tray of tea, scones, clotted cream and jam and the vase of flowers. I have no hesitation in recommending Porthmeor Cottages for a holiday.”

We’d wake to birdsong and an entire herd of curious cows peeking in the window, like something from a story. Your kindness, concern about our safe arrival and the gentle touch of a full cream tea made us feel quite special. Your attentiveness and prompt communications are very much appreciated. We’ve only spent a few days this time, but can’t wait to return for much longer.”

“We have loved staying at Clippity Clop, it was highly recommended by our friends and didn’t disappoint. It is a beautifully converted little cottage with everything you could need! We have enjoyed the diversity of plant, bird and animal life on the coastal path, fabulous sunsets over the sea and an atmospheric foggy walk back form the Gurnard’s Head. This stretch of coast from Porthmeor to St Ives is stunning and we have also enjoyed inland walks to see Lanyon Quoit, Ding Dong Mine and the Men–an–Tol. We so appreciated the cream tea on arrival, the fresh flowers and having a supply of delicious eggs from those gorgeous hens!!. The Gurnard’s Head is a wonderful place for a pint or a meal. “We are always so comfortable and happy here in lovely Clippity Clop and after our 14th stay, are still in love with it and West Penwith. Thank you Lee and William, as ever, for creating the perfect destination. Two weeks isn’t long enough for us to do and see all the things we love here, but we have done lots of them – still cycling, still climbing at Bosigran, still walking the coast path and all the footpaths in and out of St Just, still eating cream teas and watching the waves in Porthmeor cove – what could ever be better?”

P Krzenzissa, Germany, May 2015 (Clippity Clop)
“'We have thoroughly enjoyed our stays at Clippity Clop, over many years, and decided to try Eliza’s Croft this year. It was just as peaceful and romantic, but more spacious and with a lovely, private sitting out area at the rear, where we really appreciated the sunsets and beautiful views of the surrounding hills and landscape. Both farm cottages are in a secluded rural location, on the coastal path, and we have particularly enjoyed the breathtaking, rugged coastal scenery on our walks to Zennor, followed by a few pints at the Tinners Arms. The spectacular Porthmeor Cove is only a short walk from the cottages and has become a very special and memorable place for us. St Ives and Lands End are also only a short drive away, and the Gurnard’s Head, pub and restaurant, is only five minutes’ walk from the cottages.

The owners, Lee and William Berryman, are friendly and welcoming and the cream tea on arrival is always appreciated. The cottages have wood burners and are spotlessly clean and well equipped, with attention to detail and the needs of guests. Both cottages provide a wonderful retreat in a beautiful part of Cornwall and we are looking forward to returning in the future. ”
Jackie and Bill Pearson, March 2015 (Clippity Clop)
